We would also like to encourage an indigenous voice for our school council as we have 56% indigenous students. PURPLE 2 ARE OFF TO HORSE RIDING
Howdy from Purple 2, we’re all well on our way to being station hands now!
P2 have been lucky enough to be part of the weekly Term 3 classes at Riding for the Disabled in the Top End, funded with thanks to the Inclusive Education Grant from the Northern Territory Government.
Lessons have been focussed on the basics of horse-riding, practicing wearing a helmet, mounting and dismounting and learning the related vocabulary: saddle, stirrups, reins.
This week after having a trail ride we got to paint the horses!!
Dekkie loved riding his horse ‘Charm’ with his friend Natasha helping, he got to ride through the bush. Then he painted a happy birthday message to celebrate his 14th birthday!
Lashyah loved her chance to paint her horse, Kinder and was very gentle and calm in the arena.
Chantelle painted a beautiful traditional dot painting on her horse.
Duane met us out there and had an amazing time doing a treasure hunt then went for a trail ride. He was very gentle and quiet with his horse. It’s quickly become his favourite time of the week!

GREEN 2 WORK TRAINING!
Wow what a busy year it has been so far! Every week, students from Green 2 attend work training at the Henbury Precinct Training Initiative Café. The skills we are learning and refining are key skills to help us prepare for life after school. We help with all elements of food preparation, cooking and presentation safely and with extra care paid to good hygiene practices. As well as food related tasks, we help with maintaining the high standard of cleanliness and presentation of the café. That includes everything from washing and folding laundry, cleaning and storing utensils to changing and arranging the floral decorations found instore.

Corinna has been an exceptionally patient work trainer, who kindly shares her skills and time with us each week. Thanks Corinna!

We carefully measure and blend all ingredients to make our food taste just right!

We always do an amazing job working together as a team to get the job done!

There is plenty to do apart from prepare and cook food. We make sure the Café is spotless before we leave and looks fabulous ready for our customers.
Be sure to say you would like to taste something prepared or made by Green 2 next time you pop into the Café to sample the delicious treats available Thursday, Friday and Saturdays!
YOUNG WRITERS COMPETITION
Henbury school was excited to be part of the first Young Radical Writers Competition. This competition was designed to encourage and promote young writers in the northern suburbs by providing an opportunity to showcase their achievements. Students had the opportunity to submit their best and brightest stories, with many categories to choose from and participate in author, songwriter and illustrator workshops at Dripstone Middle School. Many students submitted some wonderful stories, and a special shout out to Sanderson Middle class, as each student submitted a creative piece for the completion. Three inspired writers won their category and where presented their award at the grand presentations.
Congratulations to Heidi, Camillia and Shianne, taking home cash prizes.

CAN REGATTA
On Sunday 16th July our Senior Skill Set Science students participated in the Can Regatta.
This boat was designed by our student Sophie. It is a coffin boat made from plastic. The plastic used was PVC, milk crates and soft drink bottles. The boats name was called Ironic.

Huge thank you to all attending staff and a well done to Leah and Natalie who worked hard all day on the BBQ, feeding the hungry athletes.
