ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

T/EAP Review Meetings
Education Adjustment Plan (EAP) and Transition from School EAPs (TEAP) Review Meetings will be held in Weeks 8, 9 and 10 this term. Your child’s classroom staff will be in contact to confirm your allocated meeting date and time. It is preferable to have these meetings in person, but if you’d prefer, we can arrange via Zoom/TEAMs, or over the phone. This meeting is an opportunity to celebrate your child’s achievements and discuss how they have progressed with their goals and learning.

Asthma and Anaphylaxis Professional Development
On Monday 21st August all staff participated in Asthma and Anaphylaxis training facilitated by Asthma Foundation Northern Territory. Staff refreshed their knowledge of Asthma and Anaphylaxis Action Plans, Asthma First Aid, responding to critical Anaphylaxis incidents and using necessary equipment (preventers, spacers, EpiPens etc.) Please always keep the school updated if your child’s Action Plan, or other Medical Plan is reviewed or changed.
Year 9 Transition to CSC
Year 9 outreach students from our Sanderson, Dripstone and Nightcliff classes have been attending weekly transition visits to CSC this term. They are getting to know CSC outreach students and staff whilst participating in the BoxFit Program run by Scott Belshaw. This has a focus on personal development including teamwork, self-respect and respect for others, resilience, and of course fitness.
Pyjama Day
The Pyjama Foundation supports children living in foster care with learning, life skills, and confidence so they can achieve their dreams.
Every dollar raised goes directly to their Love of Learning Program, supporting foster children aged 0-18.
We are raising money for a cause that means a lot and we would appreciate any support you can give

SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM
YELLOW 5
The students in Yellow 5 have had a busy and productive start to Term 3. They are continuing with their Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET) Learning Assessment Plans (LAP). This term we are focusing on: English – Development of Text Production Skills and Developing an Understanding of Storytelling from Different Perspectives (focusing on Dreamtime stories); Mathematics – Financial and Shopping Skills and Developing the Ability to Use Numeration and Mathematic Operations; Health and Wellbeing– Friendships and Relationships and Facts on Vaping; Cross Disciplinary – Identifying Work Skills and Preparing for the Workforce. Y5 students have been actively participating in various programs to compliment the tasks and topics discussed.
Our senior students are attending work experience, work skill programs and completing VET courses. They work alongside mainstream students from other schools. This is a marvellous opportunity for them to gain knowledge, promote independence and assist in achieving skills and qualifications.

Y5 students have attend several events and expos this year including the All Abilities Expo and 2023 Vocational Education and Training (VET) Careers Expo. The class found these outings enjoyable and informative. The experience inspired them to consider some other career options that they may not have considered before. Popular careers for the students were gardening, tourism, mining and hospitality.
HENBURY PRIDE DAY
The Henbury School celebrated its second annual Henbury Pride Day. The day is part of our Human Growth and Development program and shows Henbury Schools support for equality and inclusivity within our community.
It started off with a presentation from our student leader, Roanin who is a part of NT Youth Voice Peak Group . He shared what he and the group are doing to ensure every child and student feels welcome and accepted in their learning environment. We had an information stall from Janine our school nurse, sharing resources from Headspace, and Territory Pride held an information stall and gave away colourful merchandise.
It was a beautiful day with members of the school community dressing in rainbow colours, getting their face painted and helping to create our new mural.
