PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
As we approach the close of another incredible year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the achievements, challenges, and growth we have experienced together as a school community. 2024 has been a year of progress, resilience, and collaboration, and I am so proud of what we have accomplished as we work toward creating an environment where every student feels they belong and can thrive.
This year, we have celebrated countless milestones—whether it was academic success, athletic achievements, work training or personal growth. Our staff, and students have worked tirelessly to reach their goals, and we have witnessed a level of dedication that continues to inspire us all. We also embraced new learning opportunities, deepened our commitment to fostering inclusion, and supported one another through every step of the journey.
Saying goodbye is always a difficult task, I want to congratulate and recognise the hard work and dedication of the 21 students who have successfully completed their Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET). This is an incredible accomplishment, and I couldn’t be more proud of each of you for your commitment and perseverance.
The graduation dinner was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this milestone with your families, friends, and teachers. It was a night to remember, filled with joy and recognition of your incredible journey.
While we bid farewell to our graduates, I truly hope that you will return to visit us—whether it’s back at school or down at the Henbury Precinct. You will always be part of our school family, and we look forward to hearing about all the exciting paths you will take in the future.
A huge shout out to the Woolworths team who donated significantly to our whole school Christmas lunch and came along to help our senior students serve on the day.
Thanks again to Amanda Thomas for leading our NT Learning Commissioners and organising a fun filled day. The faces on our students and staff say it all during the colour fun run!
Our Christmas stall was a huge success. Thank you to our Specialist teachers and other classes who contributed to raising over $4k. We hope our families enjoy all our student made gifts!
To our students, I want to express how proud we are of your hard work, perseverance, and enthusiasm for learning. You are the heart of this school, and you continue to make us proud each day.
To our families, thank you for your unwavering support. You are integral to the success of our students, and we are grateful for the trust and partnership we share in ensuring that every child reaches their full potential.
Finally, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our dedicated staff. Your passion, care, and commitment make a difference in the lives of our students every single day. You inspire excellence and help create a nurturing learning environment.
As we look ahead to 2025, I am filled with excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead. I’m also looking forward to some well overdue long service leave for Term One. Backfilling my position is David Panjer. David has been Principal at Ngukurr and before that was Assistant Principal at Henbury School. Many of our staff, students and families will know David which makes for a smooth transition in my absence.
Wishing all of you a joyous holiday season and a wonderful New Year filled with happiness, peace, and growth.

BLUE 4
Class Get Together Success!
Blue 4 recently organised a class get together that was an incredible success, thanks to the collaborative efforts of our students. The boys worked together to choose the best venue, considering transport, costs, and value for money. After considering various options, the class decided the movies would be the perfect choice. They created invitations for their friends. The get together was a hit, with 17 students from five different classes attending an out of school hours screening of Red One. The event was inclusive, enjoyable, and a fantastic way to spend time with friends. Everyone had a great time, and the enthusiasm was so high that the kids are already eager to plan another event!
Blue 4’s Festive Celebrations
Blue 4 boys finished off the year in style with their end of year Christmas Dinner at Seafood on Cullen. This event brought parents together, offering them an opportunity to meet other families and connect with their children's friends. The dinner was a culmination of the student’s hard work throughout the year in their thriving cookie business, which has earned a reputation for baking Darwin’s best chocolate chip cookies. This enterprise has not only supported the class end of year celebrations but has also been instrumental in developing key skills such as financial literacy, communication, confidence, and social interactions. We are incredibly grateful to the many staff members who supported the program by purchasing cookies each week, ensuring its ongoing success. Thanks to the funds raised, the students were able to enjoy a class Secret Santa. With a set budget, they researched and selected gifts online, and during community access trips to Casuarina Square. The boys were excited to receive their gifts and to celebrate the end of the year with fun and friendship.
Farewell to Our Year 9s
As the year draws to a close, we bid a fond farewell to our Year 9 students, Ayden, Kaleb, Oliver, and Vlad, as they move up to senior school. These fantastic young men have been an integral part of our class community, and we have thoroughly enjoyed every moment spent with them. Their leadership, humour, movie-making, and hard work have left a lasting impact on our class, and we wish them all the best in their next chapter.
