Wellbeing Week
A massive thank you to our teacher Amanda Thomas and her NTLC students for hosting an amazing wellbeing week for all our staff and students. The Learning Commissioners have been working extremely hard over the last few weeks to put together a Wellbeing week for all staff and students. There were treats and different activities for both staff and students every day. They also held a Free dress day which raised $120. All funds go towards the NTLC for their engagement and inclusion activities.

Staff have been involved in moderation for Meaningful Maths and NTCET subjects with their collegues providing valuable feedback and learning for all.
T/EAPs plans will be sent home this term. Progress Reports will also be coming home to showcase students’ wonderful semester of work!
All reports will be emailed at the end of the term. Please ensure your email address is up to date.

Assistant Principal
HELLO FROM YELLOW 2!!!
We have a very energetic and vibrant class filled with seven Year 10’s, one Year 11 and one year 12. Here is what we have been up to so far this year!
Life skills:
Every week, whether students are on the nutrition program or not, they write a weekly menu plan, create a shopping list within their budget and head to the shops to purchase items from Coles for the week. All students get the opportunity to help in the cooking program, demonstrating safe use of knives, and cooking equipment. We cook the same healthy meal three weeks in a row, so by the third week, the students are independently running the cooking program. We also all help with the dishes at the end of the program, and make sure the kitchen is left as we found it.
Modified NTCET:
All students in Yellow 2 are enrolled in the Modified NTCET program. The subjects they are currently working towards are English, Maths, Health, Personal Learning Plan and Art. Students are required to document their learning and work they have completed in evidence folders which are kept stored away safely for moderation.
Keeping fit:
Each day, students are involved in some form of physical exercise, whether it be bike riding, a walk around the school, playing basketball, or running a ‘bootcamp’ for their classmates. Students have enjoyed both being the ‘Personal Trainer’ and being the ‘trained’. We have learnt some new exercises and comment on how ‘awake’ we all feel at the end of our exercises. The beautiful dry season mornings have helped keep us motivated!
Community Access:
Yellow 2 attend community access every Friday. We each get a choice of where we would like to go at the beginning of the term and then make our way through the list each week. Some highlights have been when it absolutely poured during our walk down East Point, playing basketball at the Waterfront, having fish and chips at East Point, exploring the Museum, and walking around Nightcliff. We love our bonding time outside of the classroom.
NIGHTCLIFF MIDDLE SCHOOL
Who said learning can’t be fun?
We love coming to school every day to take on new challenges and have fun with our friends.
BLUE 2
This term, Blue 2 students have had an exciting time with lots of animal friends! At the school farm, they loved feeding and playing with the chickens and their adorable chicks. Through our Community Access Program, the class also visited the Fannie Bay Equestrian Club, where they got to feed and admire the beautiful horses. Recently, therapy dogs came to our classroom, and the students had a great time petting and talking to them.
Interacting with animals has many benefits for students' well-being and mental health. Spending time with animals can reduce stress and anxiety, making students feel calmer and happier. It also helps them develop empathy and improve their social skills as they learn to care for and understand these animals. Animals can provide comfort and companionship, which is especially beneficial for students who might feel lonely or anxious. These interactions also offer a break from the regular school routine, adding some fun and excitement to the day. Overall, these interactions have been a wonderful addition to our term, providing joy and valuable experiences for everyone in Blue 2.
OUR DRIPSTONE AMBASSADORS
Dripstone Middle School had their ‘Ambassador Badge Ceremony on the 15th May. Congratulations to our students who were selected to be an ambassador in 2024. We look forward to seeing the outcome of their work through the year. Thank you to the staff at Dripstone who have provided this opportunity for our students. Our partnership with Dripstone is greatly valued.
MEANINGFUL MATHS
Six Henbury students attended the annual Meaningful Maths Enrichment day. Ayden stood up at the end and expressed his enjoyment with the day and being challenged by the maths riddles. All students were heavily engaged and used different strategies to work on a variety of hands on maths activities.
